What Notes Are in an F Major Chord?

The Theory of the F Major Chord

An F major chord is made up of these 3 notes…

F  A  C

All major chords are made up of the 1st, 3rd and 5th notes of a major scale. So, as you can see below, when you take the 1st, 3rd and 5th notes of the F major scale, you get F, A and C.

 G  A  Bb  C  D  E

You may be wondering why you need to play all 4 strings of the ukulele to play an F Major chord if it only consists of 3 notes – the answer is that you don’t have to, but doubling up the A note on the 4th and 1st strings gives the chord a fuller sound.
