Kala KA-SSEBY-C Solid Spruce Top Striped Ebony Concert Ukulele • Review & Specs

Description

The Kala KA-SSEBY-C has a solid Sitka spruce top with laminated striped ebony back and sides.

The solid top offers more bass, resonance, and volume than the laminated tops found on many beginner ukuleles.

Ebony is often associated with fingerboards, but some companies have experimented with using it as a tonewood. Many people don’t realize that ebony isn’t always pure black and can often have beautiful figuring or “striping” as seen on this model.

In addition to the striped ebony back and sides, the KA-SSEBY-C has a striped ebony fingerboard. Other appointments include wood binding, open-gear tuners, and a satin finish.

The KA-SSEBY-C is available in two other sizes: the tenor-sized KA-SSEBY-T and the baritone cutaway KA-SSEBY-B-CE.

KA-SSEBY-C Review

I have not yet reviewed the KA-SSEBY-C. However, I’m generally a fan of Kala products and feel that they make very good ukuleles for the money.

As the manager of a small music store, I’ve played hundreds of Kala ukes and they have been consistently good instruments.
