Kala KA-SSEM-T Solid Spruce Top Exotic Mahogany Tenor • Review & Specs

Description

The Kala KA-SSEM-T is a tenor-sized ukulele with a solid Sitka spruce top and laminated “exotic mahogany” back and sides.

The solid top offers more bass, resonance, and volume than the laminated tops found on many beginner ukuleles.

Kala’s exotic mahogany is simply a more figured version of the standard mahogany often found on entry-level instruments. The wood has striking grain patterns that are similar to what you might see on koa or flame maple.

However, since the back and sides are laminated, the type of wood used has a minimal effect on tone and is largely a cosmetic feature.

A fully bound body, open-gear tuners, and satin finish round out the understated appointments of the KA-SSEM-T.

This model is also available in a smaller concert size as the KA-SSEM-C.

Kala KA-SSEM-T Review

I have not yet reviewed the Kala KA-SSEM-T. However, I’m generally a fan of Kala products and feel that they make very good ukuleles for the money.

As the manager of a small music store, I’ve played hundreds of Kala ukes and they have been consistent good instruments.
